In order for editable copies to be made correctly from Apple Aperture, you will need to configure your external editor file format. Please change the “External Editor File Format” to PSD format (in Aperture’s Export preferences).
To prevent additional copies of the image from being made in Aperture, please change the “External Editor File Format” to PSD format (in Aperture’s Export preferences).
Please try reducing the size the of the Perfect Layers window and it will increase performance of both tools.
